The Society

Kerala Education Society Sr. Secondary School, MayurVihar Phase III, New Delhi is functioning under the aegis of Kerala Education Society, New Delhi. We aim to impart education which equips students to make the best use of their talents and of the opportunities offered to them by learning needs and aspirations through the development of their intellectual abilities and aptitudes throughout their lives. We are committed and want all our children, regardless of race, creed, or circumstances to achieve their full potential. Our task is to make it possible.  Our mission is to provide practical, step by step assistance to each student.

The history of Kerala School begins more than six decades back, eminent personalities like the first Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri EMS Namboodiripad and the then opposition leader of Indian Parliament, Sri AK Gopalan (AKG) took initiative to form Kerala Education Society, Delhi to promote our culture and and to promote study of Malayalam among the Malayalees and their wards residing in Delhi and surrounding areas.

Accordingly Kerala Education Society was registered in July 1958 under the Society Registration Act XXI of 1860. The objective of the society shall be inter-alia to provide facilities for education of children in the whole of National Capital Territory of Delhi by starting suitable institutions and to promote study of Malayalam. The Society’s apex body is managed by highly educated and eminent personalities. The society presently runs four schools at Shrimant Madhav Rao Scindia Marg (formerly Canning Road), Vikaspuri, R.K. Puram and Mayur Vihar Phase III.

The School

Kerala Education Society Senior Secondary School, Mayur Vihar Phase III was established in 1996 and recognised by Govt. of NCT of Delhi in 1999 with classes from I-VIII in a semi-pucca building. The school got CBSE affiliation in the year 2001 (CBSE affiliation number 2772015). The school acquired the grant- in- aid in 2003 from Delhi government. With the overwhelming support of the society members, parents, well-wishers and many associations, a new two storied building was constructed. It was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Shiela Dixit and became functional on July 19, 2009. In 2013, it was upgraded to a senior secondary school. Initially, the school started with Commerce+ Arts stream. After setting up of Physics, biology and Chemistry labs, Science stream was introduced in 2015. During the same period a new computer lab too was set up which could accommodate 40-50 students at time. Throughout the period of growth, the school campus including the building underwent many modifications. Two smart classrooms were set up in the school with help from Member of Parliament Local area Development scheme through Richard Hey, one of our MPs from Kerala. Today this school has become a full – fledged senior secondary school, affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and aided by the Govt. of Delhi, having strength around 870 students from class 1 to 12 and providing top notch education to all students impartially.

The school is managed and controlled by the management committee, duly elected by the members of Kerala Education Society (Regd.).Progressive management members are keen to provide a competitive, practical and diverse environment to their students. Assessing the outgrowing needs of the present-day education system, the school has made all efforts in improving the infrastructure and development of modern facilities. The school has implemented compulsory study of Malayalam language up to class X to foster our mother tongue and culture. At the same time, keeping pace with the challenges of the world, the school provides a high quality education and learning environment for children to excel in all fields. Kerala Education Society Senior Secondary School, MayurVihar Phase III, has won the, Indira Award for the best Govt Aided school in East Delhi in 2014, the Excellence in Education Award awardedto the HOS in 2017 and in 2021 to the school in the category of “REGIONS BEST SCHOOL” among the Govt. Aided schools in the NCT of Delhi. The school has been continuously registering excellent results year after year in 10th and 12th CBSE board examinations.6
